Opinion L.A. Blog: Atheists seek restraining order against God for the inauguration

America’s most irritating atheist is at again. That tiresome Michael Newdow and a bunch of other anti-God types have filed suit to bar prayer and references to God at President-elect Barack Obama’s swearing-in on Jan. 20. Newdow also filed lawsuits to remove prayer from President George W. Bush’s inauguration ceremonies in 2001 and 2005, and you may also remember him as the crank who tried to get the phrase “under God” eliminated from the pledge of allegiance.

  1. Timothy says:

Michael et al are expending a great deal of effort fighting something that “does not exist.” Does that seem rational, sane, or scientific?

  2. Br. Michael says:

Now, if were recognized that athiesm is in fact a religon, Mr. Newdow whould have no option, but to ban himself.

As we know athiesm is a worldveiw and everyone has a worldview. So how do you ban all worldviews? Let alone prohibit the public expression of anyone worldview? Surely Mr. Newdow does not seek to privilege his own worldview, which he cannot prove?

  3. Ad Orientem says:

Yawn. Mr. Newdow is self a absorbed flake and publicity hound. The judge should summarily dismiss this suit with prejudice. It is patently frivolous and wholly without legal merit. And then the judge should slap him with court costs x5 for wasting the court’s time.

  4. Br. Michael says:

    Agreed.

  5. Larry Morse says:

    And again, agreed. L

  6. Br. Michael says:

    Happy New Year all.

  7. Juli says:

Michael DooDah, as I prefer to call him, is a Johnny One Note who is really tiresome. I hope our sometimes liberal Supreme Court doesn’t agree with his viewpoint.

  8. Rev. Patti Hale says:

We need to pray for this guy and all those like him. God bless their pointy little heads.
